CHICAGO--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--April 18, 2007--Freedom States Alliance Executive Director, Sally Slovenski released the following statement today in response to the shooting massacre at Virginia Tech that killed 33 people, including the shooter, and wounded dozens more.
�Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and everyone at Virginia Tech. We are distressed and deeply saddened by this senseless tragedy. As a result of this most deadly shooting in US history, our commitment to prevent tragedies such as this and our commitment to change the way Americans think about guns and America's out-of-control gun culture has been strengthened. With nearly 200 million firearms in private hands in the United States and over 12,000 homicides with guns each year, we believe that more can and must be done to stem the tide of gun violence in America.

The moment of silence for the Virginia Tech victims will take place on the same day as the 8th anniversary of the Columbine school shooting that killed 12 students and a teacher, as well as the two shooters.
