BrassRing Campus Expands Online Career Services

Consolidation of Industry-Leading Companies Make BrassRing Campus a Career Tool of Choice for College, Business and Law School Graduates

CHICAGO, IL--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Oct. 4, 2000--BrassRing Inc. announced the launch of BrassRing Campus - bringing one of the most comprehensive online job and internship placement and early-career management services to college, business school and law school students.

The name change also reflects the company’s recent acquisitions of Academic Software, Inc., CareerConnections, Crimson and Brown Associates, and Resume-Link; these capabilities are merged with BrassRing’s own thepavement.com. The site (located at BrassRingCampus.com) has launched in time for the 2000-2001 campus recruiting season, and is recommended for job candidates with zero- to five-years’ work experience.

BrassRing Campus provides candidates with access to 50,000 jobs from an employer database of mid- to large-sized companies. More than 500 campus career services offices work directly with BrassRing Campus, of which 330 have installed the online recruitment company’s automation tools in their offices. Virtually all of the top 60 business schools in the U.S. (as defined by U.S. News and World Report’s 2000 graduate school rankings) engage BrassRing Campus software to find internships and jobs for business school students.

Candidates are encouraged to sign on to BrassRingCampus.com via their school’s career counseling offices; prospective employees who do not attend a school directly linked to the system can independently work with BrassRing Campus from a home workstation.

BrassRing Campus goes beyond its job database, providing students with calculators, worksheets and translators for building resumes and preparing for interviews. The site also offers hundreds of news and feature articles on such topics as money management, understanding compensation packages, securing housing and transportation, plus a “talk” section for sharing ideas and concerns with peers.

''Landing that first job out of school can be overwhelming for some students and the new challenges don`t stop when they get an offer in hand,'' said Greg Ruf, executive vice president of BrassRing Campus. ''BrassRing Campus helps students identify their personal and professional goals, providing
them with tools to manage their lives and income once they`ve landed a position.''

BrassRing Campus integrates online tools with traditional job fairs and campus career advisors. ''Just because it`s become easier to apply for jobs online doesn`t mean that students don`t have to do their homework,'' explained Ruf. ''Managing your career requires both self-knowledge and an awareness of the jobs and companies out there. The BrassRing Campus tools are designed to help students identify what types of jobs they want, and then locate specific jobs and companies that fit their needs.''

An extension of the service is BrassRing Diversity, which aggressively sources diversity candidates for companies striving to become more reflective of a multicultural marketplace.

Content at the www.BrassRingCampus.com site is developed by professional journalists and leading experts, building on the company’s ownership by world-class media organizations (including the Tribune Company and The Washington Post). “The site dynamically features unfolding information on jobs and life management,” said Ruf. “Prospective employers know that the most engaged, motivated candidates are using BrassRing Campus several times each week.”
