Better Grades Tops List of Goals for Gen Y School Year in eCRUSH poll
It’s even more important than getting dates and making the sports team
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Sept. 27, 2000--Improving grades is the most important objective for the majority of
eCRUSH users responding to a poll about goals for this high school and college year.
Grades impressively beat out lower priorities such as going on more dates, bettering social status, improving athletic prowess and finding more creative excuses.
Nearly 55 percent of the 13,959 respondents want to improve their grades. Going on more dates is the priority of 20 percent of eCRUSH users, with another 13 percent wanting to improve their social status. Sports and finding excuses were low on the list with 7 percent and 5 percent respectively.
“It just goes to show you that Gen Y isn’t just a group of slackers, as some people have claimed,” said Karen DeMars, president of eCRUSH. “As a relationship and entertainment site, our users are definitely interested in dating and the other fun aspects of high school and college, but they have their priorities in the right place.”
About eCRUSH.com
Founded by singles Clark Benson and Karen
DeMars, eCRUSH is a free service that uses technology to answer the age-old question: ''would they go out with me?'' in an easy, safe and fun way. eCRUSH is unlike any other matchmaking or personals site. Instead of blindly matching up strangers, eCRUSH plays the roll of the note passer. eCRUSH lets people check out who`s checking them out... without the risk of rejection.
Through a proprietary and patented database process, users log onto eCRUSH and, in total secrecy, enter the names of any romantic interests. The eCRUSH database searches for matches - two people who have both listed each other as crushes. When a match happens, both users are informed simultaneously. To maximize the chances of a match, eCRUSH gives users the option of having an anonymous email sent to their love interest saying that they have been ''eCRUSHed,'' and encourages them to enter their own crushes to see if there is a match.
eCRUSH also spotlights a number of fun and unique feature pages such as HorrorDate, a collection of user-submitted worst date experiences; Celebrity Fantasy Crush, a real-time list of the top ten most crushable celebrities; and Throw Me A Line, a celebration of the best and worst pickup lines used and abused by eCRUSH readers.
Since the Valentine`s Day 1999 debut of eCRUSH, more than 750,000 people have joined looking for love, and more than 150,000 people have matched with their eCRUSHes. Anyone can use eCRUSH, regardless of age or sexual orientation. Based in San Francisco, the site is supported through advertising revenue and investment, and reached profitability in third quarter 2000.
