More than one in 10 teens has their own credit card, according to a new survey, and among teens with jobs one in six have their own credit card.  More than a thousand students from 80 Junior Achievement locations participated in the 2005 J-A Enterprise Poll on personal finance.  Darrell Luzzo is a Senior Vice President of Education for J-A Worldwide.  He says the survey shows teens are establishing credit at an early age:

As credit becomes more available to teens, we need to educate students to be responsible about budgeting and saving, about spending wisely and also investing.  Our programs for middle grade students help educate teens on financial matters not taught in school, the younger they learn and the more they know, the more theyll be ahead of the game when it comes to financial independence.

The Allstate Foundation sponsored this sixth annual survey.  Complete results are available online at j-a-dot-org.
