Do Americans live to work? According to a recent survey by Expedia-dot-com, the answer is a resounding yes! Americans are forfeiting 50 percent more vacation than they did last year. The results also show that working vacations are common with a third of those polled checking voice mail and email while away. Melissa Derry, vacation travel expert at Expedia, says too many Americans are overworked and "under-vacationed":

"Unfortunately vacations are still at the bottom of our to-do lists, as evidenced by Americans giving back 415 million days off this year. Expedia has seen a growing trend of Americans leaving more and more vacation on the table. Summers here now and we cant imagine a better time to make vacation a priority."

Derry says that if more workers were encouraged to take vacations, bosses would be pleasantly surprised as more than half of Americans say they come back from a trip feeling better about their jobs and more productive.
