Students are expected to study, but a new nationwide study done by the National Survey  of Student Engagement  shows that they may be studying less than expected. The group surveyed 472 colleges and universities to measure both academics and student involvement on- and off-campus. It found that while professors suggest 25 hours of studying per week to succeed in college, a large majority of students spend less than 10 hours doing so. While this may seem surprisingly low, those students also seemed to report still achieving As and Bs despite less studying. What fills their increased free time? The survey found that students also volunteer, hold part-time jobs, participate in religious activities and a variety of other things.
