With gas prices just pennies from last year's record highs, what can consumers do to help fight the pain of the pump?  Bobby Likis, auto expert and host of the Car Clinic Radio Show, explains how simple maintenance of four critical areas of your car can increase fuel economy and put money back in your wallet:

"Keep current on the car's tune-up schedule, I mean, an out-of-tune engine can increase fuel consumption by as much as 15 percent.  In addition, up-grading the motor oil can save you a bundle.  High performance motor oil like Royal Purple can improve fuel economy as much as 5 percent compared to conventional synthetic or mineral-based oils."

Likis also recommends replacing your air filter regularly and keeping your tires properly inflated. Under-inflated tires can dramatically increase fuel consumption.  Simple maintenance can make a real difference, so it makes sense to grab hold of the wheel and control the costs you can.
