WindowsMedia.com to Bring Kingdome Implosion to the Web With Live Footage, Archived Implosions and 3-D Viewing

Microsoft Teams With Controlled Demolition and ISee3D To Make Comprehensive Coverage Freely Available to the Public and Internet Media Outlets

REDMOND, WA--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--March 8, 2000--Microsoft WindowsMedia.com announced today it will work with Controlled Demolition Inc. and ISee3D Inc. to make a webcast of the March 26 Kingdome implosion in Seattle broadly available to Internet viewers. The implosion will be webcast live — in regular streaming video as well as 3-D — and will be featured at WindowsMedia.com (https://www.windowsmedia.com/), the MSN(tm) guide to audio and video content on the Internet. In addition, WindowsMedia.com will make available to all interested Internet media outlets a free webcast feed of the implosion that they can offer to their viewers.

The Kingdome, former home to the Seattle Mariners and the Seahawks, is one of the largest structures ever to be imploded. Its demolition is scheduled for approximately 8:30 a.m. PST on March 26. When the dome comes down, cameras inside and outside it will capture the event live for Web viewers. The event also will be streamed in live stereoscopic 3-D using ISee3D’s proprietary encoding systems, which include specially equipped 3-D cameras.

Free* 3-D viewing glasses are available at https://www.windowsmedia.com/preview/kingdome/.

In preparation for the implosion, WindowsMedia.com is offering archived footage of 25 previous implosions, which can be viewed and e-mailed to others. WindowsMedia.com also will offer archived interviews with experts from Controlled Demolition.

Streamed footage will be in Microsoft Windows Media™ format. The Windows Media Player can be downloaded for free** at https://www.microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/download/. The event will be produced in association with New River Media, a Washington, D.C.-based production company.

Media outlets interested in posting implosion footage or carrying the event live should contact [email protected]. Three-D glasses will be available to participating media outlets for free distribution to their viewers.
