Student Recipients Include Engineers, Educators and Former F-16 Pilot
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Oct 11, 2001--Exceptional students from across Texas, including several engineers and educators and a former F-16 fighter pilot, will receive scholarships from The Texas Business Hall of Fame during a luncheon ceremony at the Four Season Hotel, Houston, on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001.

Students seeking a scholarship from The Texas Business Hall of Fame must be nominated by the dean of the MBA school, maintain a 3.5 grade point average or better, have completed at least one semester in an MBA program and demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit.
To date, The Texas Business Hall of Fame has awarded more than $1.7 million in scholarships to students pursuing a business education at Texas` leading institutions of higher learning. The Texas Business Hall of Fame recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of Texas business leaders to perpetuate and inspire the values of entrepreneurial spirit, personal integrity and community leadership in all generations of Texans.
This mission is achieved by inducting honorees at the annual dinner, disseminating information about their accomplishments throughout the state and providing financial support for business education in Texas.
Students who will be receiving $5,000 scholarships toward their MBA include:

Each of the recipients will receive their scholarship and be honored at a luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001.
In addition to the scholarship winners, The Texas Business Hall of Fame will honor four Texas business leaders. The honorees include: Stanford Alexander, chairman of Weingarten Realty Investors, a Houston-based real estate investment trust with income-producing properties across the United States; Rod Canion, co-founder of Compaq Computer Corporation and current chairman and chief executive officer of Insource Technology Group, a Houston-based eServices consulting firm; Don Jordan, retired chairman of the board, and chief executive officer of Reliant Energy Inc., an international energy services and delivery company; and Chuck Watson, chairman and chief executive officer of Dynegy Inc., a leading provider of energy and communications solutions to customers in North America and Europe. The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation is a non-profit organization of 100 directors who are business leaders from cities throughout Texas.
