Online Course Provides Universal Program for Violators of Campus Alcohol Policies
DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Mar 7, 2001--JonesKnowledge.com(TM), Inc., a leader in the development and deployment of online learning solutions for educational institutions, corporations and individuals, today announced a relationship with the BACCHUS and GAMMA Peer Education Network, one of the nation`s premier student health organizations for college students, to launch ALCOHOL RESPONSE-ABILITY. ALCOHOL RESPONSE-ABILITY is an Internet-based program designed to provide alcohol policy offenders on college campuses with a personalized alcohol education and behavioral assessment program.
Most colleges and universities require first-time alcohol policy offenders to attend a one-time, three to four hour long course highlighting the health and lifestyle risks associated with alcohol abuse. Through JonesKnowledge.com`s Jones e-education software, ALCOHOL RESPONSE-ABILITY will provide the course in an online format, allowing students to login and complete the course in a flexible, convenient, and private setting that requires them to meet several learning outcomes to pass the course.
``The versatility of using Jones e-education software empowers colleges and universities to effectively educate students and to help them assess their high risk behavior with the goal of creating lasting and positive change,`` said Dr. Edward H. Hammond, president of Fort Hays State University and Chairperson of the BACCHUS and GAMMA Peer Education Network Board of Trustees. ``Jones e-education software, which has successfully powered online education delivery for years, will be integral to our ability to educate students about alcohol abuse.``
Through the ALCOHOL RESPONSE-ABILITY program, students will capitalize on all of the benefits of online learning. Students from across the country can log onto the ALCOHOL RESPONSE-ABILITY site, register, pay their fee with a credit card or via an existing campus account, and begin taking their course to meet judicial requirements. Students can take the course in one or as many work sessions they choose, provided the course is completed by a specific date. As students progress through the program, they are required to correctly answer a series of questions that allow them to advance to the latter stages of the course. When a student completes the course, the student`s home campus is notified. This design ensures college administrators that students have met the established learning outcomes for the course, and yet maintains each participant`s confidentiality.
The ALCOHOL RESPONSE-ABILITY course teaches students about the health risks involved in drinking--both physical and in decision making. As part of the course, students go through a risk assessment process to help them evaluate their personal decision-making abilities and health and safety goals that may be compromised by excessive drinking. Because students from across the country access the same course content and are evaluated against the same learning outcomes, the ALCOHOL RESPONSE-ABILITY program will create a national standard of alcohol education for college students.
``While Jones e-education software is presently being employed as a solution by organizations and universities around the globe, we believe our affiliation with the BACCHUS and GAMMA Peer Education Network is truly unique and exciting,`` said Heather O`Mara, president of JonesKnowledge.com. ``We`re proud of our association with an organization like BACCHUS and GAMMA that is leveraging the power and reach of online learning for such an important cause.``
