Yale, Boston College, and University of Massachusetts Amherst to be among Enviance Users

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Jul 9, 2002--The Campus Consortium for Environmental Excellence, or C2E2, whose members include Boston College, Brown University, Northeastern University, Trinity College, University of Alaska, University of Massachusetts Amherst and Boston, and Yale University among others, has chosen Enviance to be the environmental technology provider for the C2E2 Environmental Management System (EMS) pilot project.

The C2E2 is a national group of 22 institutions of higher education that act together to improve environmental practices at their campuses. Its efforts range from regulatory reinvention partnerships with the EPA and state regulators; leadership in developing and sharing management tools for the unique higher education management setting; to integration of regulatory compliance efforts within the educational and research missions of its member institutions.

Enviance, a San Diego-based environmental technology company, will provide eight of the C2E2`s 22 members with a compliance-based environmental management solution that will enable these members to reach sustainable environmental compliance goals. This includes new solutions for managing Title V compliance, hazardous waste, and spill prevention and response planning. The Web-based Environmental Management System engineered by Enviance provides the added benefit of allowing universities to easily communicate across campuses and to
share best practices.

''After reviewing Web-based environmental compliance technology providers, the C2E2 selected Enviance for the Pilot Project because it offered an effective environmental compliance management tool for Environmental Health and Safety professionals at colleges and universities,'' said Thomas Balf, project director for the C2E2. ''Our mission is to be at the forefront of effective environmental management for higher education. With the Enviance System, our members can pilot the use of a comprehensive, Web-based system for identifying and listing compliance requirements and managing the many people and tasks associated with environmental performance at an institution of higher learning.''

''Enviance is proud to have the C2E2, a consortium of some of the country`s best and most forward-looking universities, on our client list. Since colleges and universities tend to have satellite campuses, our Web-based functionality provides a uniquely suitable solution, enabling collaboration and sharing of best practices between campuses and with other Consortium members,'' said Lawrence Goldenhersh, president and chief executive officer of Enviance. ''The Enviance System not only allows the flexibility afforded by Internet accessibility, but also allows each university to create an EMS that is tailored to its unique organizational structure and the unique compliance objectives of the institution.''

A privately held corporation founded in October 1999, Enviance empowers Industry to cost-effectively manage environmental compliance responsibilities through Internet and intranet-based applications. The Enviance Web-based compliance system is presently deployed on the North Slope of Alaska to manage compliance requirements for the petroleum and oil services industries, and for the Slope`s waste management company. It is also deployed throughout the Continental United States with Industry leaders in the utilities, pharmaceutical, chemical, paper, and electronics industries. The mission of the Campus Consortium for Environmental Excellence (C2E2) is to support the continued improvement of environmental performance in higher education through environmental professional networking, information exchange, the development of professional resources and tools, and the advancement of innovative regulatory models.
