Are Some Computer Games Too Sexy?

Suggested Anchor lead-in: Many of the latest video games are big in both violence and sex. Video game manufacturers say these types of games are entertaining but one media watchdog group says video content is only getting worse and parents need to make sure their kids are not using something that may be inappropriate. Bob Winsor reports.

Dr. David Walsh of the National Institute on Media and The Family says the latest computer games to hit the shelves are too violent and too sexy.

"Theres always gonna be some game producers out there who are going to see if they can out do their competitors in terms of sexual explicitness in terms of violence and in some cases even in terms of sexualized violence."

That is clearly the case with Outlaw Volleyball, a new X-Box game, which contains numerous suggestive sexual poses.

"That is not the kind of entertainment that we want our 13, 14, 15-year-old sons to spend hours and hours doing."

Peter Von Schlossberg of  Simon and Schuster Interactive, who sell the game, disagrees.

"While this is designed for mature audiences, it doesnt have gratuitous sex or violence, its just pure attitude driven fun."

Whats the solution? Dr. Walsh says parents need to become more aware of the games their kids buy because these days games like this are available just about anywhere.

"Were seeing games like Outlaw Volleyball being sold in stores like Toys R Us."
