From Collegiate Presswire's RadioWire (https://www.cpwire.com/radio): Radio The agency in charge of airline security has a new weapon in the fight against terrorism. Its called Capps-II- a high-tech way to make sure you are who you say you are, and arent a terrorist. Its based on information you give to make your reservation and from public and government databases. Its much more sophisticated than the screening in use now, but TSA administrator James Loy says youll hardly notice the difference at the airport:
Most people will go through screening just as they do now. In fact, Capps-II should actually reduce the number of people subjected to extra screening and that could help speed up the whole process.
TSA Privacy Officer Nuala OConnor Kelly:
Weve actually reduced the amount of information were collecting, limited the ways that information will be used and also, reduced the length of time the information will be kept. Were also building systems where passengers can see their information and correct it if necessary.
Testing of the system begins soon, and, following more public input, Capps-II could be in use by next year.
