A six-step program put together by the American Red Cross and Duracell is helping families know what they need to do to help them stay safe in a disaster. For example: Everyone should have ready access to a flashlight and a battery operated radio and should store spare batteries. Larry Rockwell from the Red Cross:
�The Red Cross recommends six steps to be coming a �safe family.� They are creating a family disaster plan and with that, writing an evacuation plan. Learning safety plans for both the work place and the children�s schools; preparing for fires; assembling a disaster supplies kit including a flashlight; battery-powered radio and spare batteries. And lastly, learning life-saving skills that you may need to use in the event of an emergency.�
