Rafael Palmeiro on Wheaties Box

Wheaties is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a special edition box honoring Texas Rangers slugger Rafael Palmeiro.   Palmeiro joined baseball�s elite home run hitters earlier this season when he smacked number 500, becoming only the 19^th player in history to do so.  The four-time all-star, Palmeiro also earned three consecutive gold gloves at first base from 1997 to 1999.  He�s the only player in Major League Baseball history to record eight straight seasons of at least 38 home runs: 

�I came to this country when I was a very young kid leaving Cuba, you know I could associate with the Wheaties box ever since I got here and I saw great athletes be put on that box, to me it was just a dream.  You know, I never thought it would happen to me, but through a lot of hard work and dedication and dreaming �large� � here I am and I�m very honored.�
