This Saturday, October 25th, you may see many people helping their neighbors, that's because Saturday is "Make a Difference Day," the national day of volunteering.  For those 55 and over who want to get involved even if you can't volunteer this Saturday, this Senior Corps program is recruiting new volunteers age 55 years and older to "make a difference" in their communities throughout the year.  Join the more than half a million volunteers who already serve their communities by tutoring and mentoring disadvantaged youth, helping the homebound, building homes and so much more.  Tess Scannell, Director of Senior Corps, says communities need the skills and experience of people 55 and older to help "make a difference":

"People over 55 have so many skills and so much energy and they can help in so many ways.  And there's so many ways to get involved, using their skills and life experiences to help others is really personally rewarding and it's a lot of fun."

To volunteer, call the toll free number 1-800-424-8867 or log on to w-w-w-dot-volunteer friends-dot-org where people 55 and over can go to find local volunteer opportunities in their own neighborhoods.
