From Collegiate Presswire's RadioWire (https://www.cpwire.com/radio): Radio A Virginia physician is the new president of the nations largest organization of anesthesiologists. Doctor Roger Litwiller of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital was installed as President of the American Society of Anesthesiologists at the groups annual meeting. He said that most Americans understand that the malpractice crisis in medicine refers to insurance rather than the quality of care:
If you look at the definition of malpractice, it talks about negligent behavior. It talks about injurious conduct. It talks about people being injured. If we had a crisis in malpractice, we would have hospitals full of people who have been injured. What we have is a crisis in availability and the affordability of medical liability insurance.
The American Society of Anesthesiologists meeting drew some 8,000 physicians. CLICK HERE to download a transcript of this story: CLICK HERE to download a multimedia (MP3) file of this story: © Copyright 2003 Collegiate Presswire, Inc. and NBN/CP RadioWire |
