The holiday season is traditionally a time for feasting, and with the focus firmly on food, its the perfect time to keep a close eye on your diet.  Recent surveys show that most Americans are getting less than half the amount of fiber recommended for a healthy diet.  While most people know they need more, few know exactly how much, or how to get it.  Nutrition author and researcher Doctor Joanne Slavin has these quick and easy holiday food tips:

Its important to think about fiber sources things like whole grain foods, nuts, dried fruits.  Sometimes its still hard to get enough fiber.  In a case like that, its good to use a fiber supplement, like Benefiber to add into those meals.  Its tasteless and never thickens.  It easily goes into things like mashed potatoes, stuffing and sweet potatoes things that we like to eat during the holidays.

According to the F-D-A the daily recommended value for fiber

Is 25 grams per day.  Visit www-dot-benefiber-dot-com for more information on how to get fiber into your diet.
