Some people are just naturals at hosting holiday parties. One expert, Joanne Weir, regularly shares her entertaining secrets with the viewers of her P-B-S television show "Weir Cooking." The celebrated cookbook author and chef is also a wine connoisseur with some specific ideas on holiday food and wine: "Wine country is famous not only for its award-winning wines, but also for its delicious food. But you don't have to travel to Sonoma or Napa to bring some of these great flavors to your own table. The key to success really is using the freshest seasonal ingredients available and keeping the menu simple. One of my favorite holiday dishes to prepare is braised leg of lamb with artichokes accompanied by lemon and garlic-roasted potatoes. I serve this wonderful meal with Turning Leaf Cabernet Sauvignon. The meat just falls off the bone and the full-bodied wine can really stand up to the robust flavors of the food."
