From Collegiate Presswire's RadioWire (https://www.cpwire.com/radio): Radio It was 50 years ago this month that Americans first heard that jingle. In 1954, Captain Stubby and the Buccaneers were asked to sing the now famous Roto-Rooter thats the name, away go troubles down the drain:
Well, we were on the National Barn Dance in Chicago and Larry came over and said, Hey, I want you guys to do a commercial with us and for Roto-Rooter. So, it just worked out fine. We sang right out and then they wanted something a little different on that tagline and of course, I had the frog voice I used down through the years and I said lets do that. And they said thats it, by golly, lets keep it.
In a recent survey, Americans ranked the Roto-Rooter jingle as one of the most memorable of yesteryear, along with G-M s See the U-S-A in your Chevrolet" and Wrigley's Double Your Pleasure, Double Your fun. .
