From Collegiate Presswire's RadioWire (https://www.cpwire.com/radio): Radio Its National Small Business Week, a chance to recognize how small businesses benefit the U.S. economy. But did you know that the more than 57 million small business employees in the U.S. may not be getting all of their benefits?
Half of all Americans work for small businesses. But if youre a small business employee, you are less likely than your big-company counterparts to have access to basic employee benefits. Catherine Collinson from the Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies:
Theres a misperception that these benefits are too expensive, especially for small businesses. But employee benefits, particularly retirement benefits, can be set up in a number of ways to make them more affordable for small businesses.
In fact, a recent survey from the Center found that small business employees were more likely to accept a job with a lower salary but with excellent benefits than one with a higher salary, but poor benefits. Many employers often underestimate the importance of these benefits:
If you dont have access to the retirement plan youd like, let your employer know. Your feedback is important for them to understand the value of workplace benefits.
