Millions of vacationers are planning to hit the road this Memorial Day Weekend, and a growing number of travelers are bringing a close friend�their pet. In fact, the Travel Industry Association of America cites pet travel as a growing trend. Whether it�s a camping trip or a weekend getaway, a furry companion can make a vacation more memorable. However, careful planning is needed to ensure your pet�s health and safety. Contacting the hotel or airline for pet regulations and protecting pets from parasites they might encounter are important steps before taking any trip. Dr. Jeff Werber, veterinarian and former host of Animal Planet�s Petcetera explains,

"The last thing you want to do is bring critters home with you � which can cause discomfort and transfer harmful diseases. Before you leave, I recommend using products like K9 Advantix, which protects dogs from fleas, ticks and mosquitoes or Advantage, flea control for cats and dogs. Also talk to a veterinarian to make sure your pet has all their vaccinations and don�t leave home without your pet�s id, leash, first aid kit, kennel and food."
