As America enjoys National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable month, a recent G-E survey showed that 78 percent admit they find spoiled food in their refrigerator at least once a month, and 90 percent say they waste money because of food that spoils before it can be eaten. To help keep food fresh longer G-E Consumer and Industrial has introduced Climatekeeper 2, refrigeration technology that features two separate cooling systems - one for the freezer and one for the fresh food section. Robert Rogers from G-E Consumer and Industrial:

"Well, most foods like fruits, vegetables, meats and even cheeses are made up mostly of water. They like a high-humidity environment. Todays conventional refrigerators deliver an environment where the humidity is relatively low. Our Climatekeeper 2 technology uses a dual evaporator system, it allows us to substantially increase the humidity level in the refrigerator and helps us keep food fresh longer."

With foods staying fresh longer, hopefully Americans will find it easier to eat more fruits and vegetables. The survey showed only three percent ate the recommended five servings a day.
