Ninety-seven percent of American women want to maintain their current lifestyle in retirement, but only 57 percent believe they are prepared enough to do so, according to a new survey from prudential financial.  Although women are beginning to recognize the danger of waiting to deal with their financial future, they may not be acting quickly enough.  Vivian Banta, vice chairman of Prudential Financial:

"Nine out of 10 of the women in our survey said that they were actively involved in making financial decisions as it pertains to the management of their current household.  However, only one in 10 of the women that we surveyed said that they would definitely take action to secure their financial future."

Divorce and widowhood can unexpecxtedly leave women without a safety net, Banta says, so they need to take care of themselves, and if they don't know what to do, they should ask for help.
