An estimated 48 million children use the Internet on a regular basis and during the summer months they're likely to have more time to spend online and "hang-out" with friends.  Although 90 percent of parents surveyed say they set rules for their kids' Internet activity, that's not the case if you ask kids.  A third of children denied that they have any rules at all when they go online.  Teri Schroeder is CEO of i-SAFE, a non-profit internet safety education foundation:

"Most kids know more about the Internet than their parents.  But that doesn't mean you can't protect them when you're not home or around.   Services like S-B-C Yahoo! Parental Controls are easy to set up on your computer at home and they empower the children to take control of their Internet experience by opening up the family communication lines no matter where you're at - it's a great way to keep your children safe without keeping them in the dark."

Recent studies from i-SAFE show after receiving Internet safety education, almost 80 percent of students said they'd make better choices while online.
