While men and women ages 18 to 24 claim to have the best intentions when it comes to practicing safer sex, according to the Trojan Brand Condoms "Are We a Condom Nation?" Survey, their life actions tell a different story. According to the national survey of sexually active men and women aged 18 to 24, seventy-seven percent agree "its smart to carry condoms," yet, less than a quarter, do. Author and co-host of the Loveline, Doctor Drew:

"The good news is that people are aware that they need to take responsibility and we have good intentions, we just need to bring our behavior up in line with those intentions. Ninety-one percent of us say that we want to take responsibility for our reproductive health, that we would do so, that we do, do so, and yet, only 23 percent are actually carrying condoms. Forty-four percent of sexually active adults say theyre not worried about getting an S-T-D and even more startling to me, only 4 percent of women agree with the statement that they should be responsible for making sure a condom is available."

In the survey, 46 percent of those sexually active say they always or often use a condom.
