Citing obstacles our nations men and women in uniform face when voting by absentee ballot, American Bar Association President Dennis Archer today released a new report recommending an electronic voting and other measures to ensure their votes will count in up-coming elections:

Service men and women give up so much to protect our freedoms while putting themselves in harms way they should not have to give up one of the basic rights of Americans, the right to vote.  Were calling upon our states and the Department of Defense to put in place effective systems to allow our military to fully participate in our democracy by voting.

The A-B-A report also calls for more equitable application of in state tuition rates and more vigorous advocacy for returning veterans re-entering the civilian workforce.  The A-B-A, the nations largest lawyers organization, is currently meeting in Atlanta.
