At some point in life everyone experiences foot pain.  According to a survey by the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, A-O-F-A-S, unveiled today at the 72nd annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, foot and ankle problems can be linked to an individuals weight and body mass index   the results showed a correlation between overweight participants and foot problems.  Also, nearly 41 percent of the respondents reported weight gain prior to the onset of pain.  Stuart d. Miller, M.D.., member of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore:

Well, in general, people carry approximately four to six times their body weight across the ankle joint when their climbing up stairs or even walking steep inclines. Obesity isnt just an aesthetic issue, but a contributing cause of musculoskeletal health problems, specifically in the foot and ankle region.
