Yahoo! Mail announced that it plans to increase the storage capacity for its free email service beginning next month to one gigabyte, from the current 250 megabytes.  This change gives users additional freedom to store more emails, photos, and other files in their Yahoo Mail accounts. Andy Spillane of Yahoo!:

"Well, as the leading email provider in the U.S. Yahoo! has a rich history in providing an email service that precisely meets consumers' needs. We know that people are using their Yahoo! Mail accounts to store more photos, attachments and important messages than ever before, and by providing one gigabyte of storage for free, we will make Yahoo! Mail an even more valuable and essential part of their lives. We plan to begin rolling out this storage upgrade to users worldwide beginning in late April. This means that people can get one gigabyte of free storage while continuing to take comfort in the fact that Yahoo! Mail is protecting the privacy and security of their in-boxes."
