LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Apr 15, 2002--Over two hundred top ranking government officials, industry luminaries and senior IBM executives gathered today to kick-off the fourth annual Lotus Global Government Forum. In his keynote presentation, IBM Lotus Software General Manager Al Zollar addressed the key challenges faced by governments today including the talent gap, the need for more effective knowledge transfer among workers, the lack of seamless interagency communications and the growing demand for citizen self-service. Zollar highlighted customers from around the world who have solved these challenges by implementing information technology solutions.

''The sharing of best practices and technologies here at the Lotus Global Government Forum is just one way governments and public sector organizations can increase their effectiveness,'' said Zollar. ''Implementing e-learning, instant messaging and collaboration software helps these organizations achieve true knowledge management, leverage their human capital and work more productively with the constituents they serve.''

The Honorable Madeleine K. Albright, the former U.S. Secretary of State, will speak to LGGF audience on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 providing a unique account of her service at the highest level of the American government.
