TEWKSBURY, Mass.--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Feb. 15, 2006--Avid Technology, Inc. today launched a video contest designed to recognize and reward the creative talents of aspiring media professionals.  From now until March 15, contestants can enter the contest by submitting to Avid a 60-second video that captures the essence of something they are truly passionate about.  All entrants will receive a free t-shirt; six finalists will receive a free copy of Avid Xpress(R) Pro software, with the grand prize winner also receiving a trip to Las Vegas, NV from April 21-24, 2006 to attend the Postproduction World and NAB conferences.

"Next-generation media creators now have a blank canvas on which to unleash their creative talent," said Steve Chazin, director of education and new markets at Avid.  "The talent pool of people who can tell their stories with video is skyrocketing. This contest is a way for Avid to connect with young, inventive artists, acknowledge their work, and give them an opportunity to mingle with some of the most influential content creation professionals in the industry."

In addition to providing the grand prize winner with an expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas, Avid plans to feature entries by the six finalists on its website, with the winning entry also displayed during NAB.  All six finalists will receive the latest version of Avid Xpress Pro software, which includes professional film, video, and audio editing, effects creation, and DVD authoring tools - as well as custom music creation tools.  The Avid Xpress Pro system also comes with installers for both Mac and Windows systems in the same box, allowing users to run the software on the computer platform they prefer.

A complete set of rules for the contest is posted at  https://www.avid.com/forms/videoContest.asp?dm=60secSP.  Contestants should submit entries to: Avid 60 Second Video Contest, Avid Technology, One Park West, Tewksbury, MA 01876 or upload them to the Avid website.
