CINCINNATI--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Mar 25, 2003--Are you always singing in the shower, dreaming of becoming a rock star? Now`s your chance to let your voice be heard beyond the bathroom door and make your rock-n-roll dreams a reality!

Pantene(R), the world`s leading hair care brand, has announced the third annual Pantene Pro-Voice music competition, a national contest designed to recognize, celebrate and honor young women who choose to use their voice as a tool for positive self-expression. Established to celebrate what women have to say while supporting them on their journey of self-discovery, the competition creates a forum for showcasing how music can be used to foster self-esteem.

The Pantene Pro-Voice music competition provides an opportunity for unsigned female solo artists and female-fronted bands ages 14 to 24 to showcase their talent as singer/songwriters for a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime grand prize: a demo recording contract with Atlantic Records, the opportunity to tour with an established artist, a trip to the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards and distribution of her/their winning song via the Pantene Pro-Voice CD. In addition, MTV will create a congratulatory vignette featuring the Pantene Pro-Voice Winner that will air during the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.

''We know that music plays an important role in the lives of many women. We are committed to the Pantene Pro-Voice program because it encourages young women to embrace music as a tool for positive self-expression. Over the past two years, Pantene Pro-Voice has collected over 3,100 entries from unsigned female artists and the talent of the applicants overwhelms us,'' said Scott Rogers, Pantene Marketing Director.

In August, three finalists will be selected and flown to New York City to compete live in Central Park at the Pantene Pro-Voice Concert, which will also feature performances by Mya, Vanessa Carlton, Tweet and newcomer Lucy Woodward. Previous Pantene Pro-Voice events have featured participation from artists such as Jewel, Michelle Branch and India Arie.

''I`m thrilled to be a part of this year`s Pantene Pro-Voice program because I love that it allows young females to express themselves through the art of music and songwriting versus image. The youth of today have a lot to say and share and there isn`t a more exciting way to do that than through music,'' said Interscope recording artist Mya and one of the performers at the 2003 Pantene Pro-Voice Concert.

The grand prize winner will be chosen at the concert by music industry professionals based on lyrical composition, musical composition and originality. In addition, MTV2, the 24 hour music network, will create an hour-long video block and VJ segments taped from the Pantene Pro-Voice Concert featuring interviews with Pantene Pro-Voice musical guests.

Beginning April 1, 2003, applications for the third annual Pantene Pro-Voice music competition will be available online at www.pro-voice.com. To enter, all applicants are required to write and perform an original song in the music genre of their choice and submit a written copy of the song`s lyrics, a recording of the song on a tape, CD or MP3, a completed contest submission form and a photograph. Applicants under 18 will require signed parental/guardian consent. The deadline for applications is May 31, 2003.

The program`s website, www.pro-voice.com, will also feature exclusive online access to special offers, free music and Pantene Pro-Voice prizes. Dedicated to celebrating what women have to say, Pantene Pro-Voice`s partners include: MTV, YM and Atlantic Records.

Pantene, owned and distributed by P&G, believes in the power of personal transformation and in the individuality and beauty of every woman.
