Harlequin Launches the HARLEQUIN FLIPSIDE `Write Your Heart Out` Contest
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Sep 22, 2003--The HARLEQUIN FLIPSIDE(TM) ''Write Your Heart Out'' Contest invites aspiring student writers to express their witty, humorous voices for the chance to win cash prizes and have their book reviewed by Harlequin editors. The HARLEQUIN FLIPSIDE(TM) series is a new fiction program that captures the fun, flirty attitude of a major pop culture phenomenon--the romantic comedy.
The HARLEQUIN FLIPSIDE(TM) ''WRITE YOUR HEART OUT'' CONTEST is open to college and university students from schools across the United States and Canada (except Quebec) who are 18 years of age or older as of December 31, 2003. Void where prohibited. Students should submit a typed, double-spaced, first chapter of their book (no more than 5,000 words) and an outline (no longer than ten pages) of the complete novel by December 31, 2003. The winning entry will be selected by February 14, 2004. No disk or e-mail submissions. Entries will not be returned. Each submission must be original, written in English and have not won a previous prize/award nor have previously been reproduced or published.
The top entries will be judged by an unbiased panel of judges, comprised of Harlequin Flipside(TM) editorial and marketing staff. One entry per person will be considered. Entries will be judged by an in-house panel based on voice (40%), content (30%) and writing skills (30%). Please see writing guidelines enclosed as well as on www.HarlequinFlipside.com. First-prize winner will receive U.S. $1,000 cash; the second prize winner will receive U.S.$500 cash and the third prize winner will receive U.S. $250 cash. The winner must provide proof that she/he is currently enrolled in a college or a university.
