With Congress poised to vote on the historic "Medicare Prescription Drug Bill" some say the proposal contains a life-threatening omission. While injectable anti-cancer drugs would continue to be covered under the new law, oral cancer medications would not be covered until 2006. For some one million senior citizens taking cancer meds, two years may be too long to wait. Flora, known as "Grandma"Green, a cancer survivor and national spokesperson for the Seniors Coalition, spoke in Washington on the issue:

"I stand here today as a cancer survivor and I ask Congress and the Medicare conferees to pass a Medicare Prescription Bill that provides immediate - immediate coverage for oral anti-cancer therapies."

Advocates say the issue cant be money since the cost of oral anti-cancer medications is insignificant - just one-tenth of one percent of the entire Medicare Prescription Drug Bills budget.
