On May 20, 1927, Charles Lindbergh flew from New York to Paris completing the first non-stop transatlantic flight. "The Spirit of St. Louis" was an incredibly difficult plane to fly and the challenges Lindbergh overcame are still amazing today. Aerobatic pilot Patty Wagstaff:

"Well, The Spirit of St. Louis really represents the golden age in aviation history. I mean, it was a great time in aviation when pilots were constantly trying to break speed records and distance records and sort of accomplish new feats of skill and stamina in pushing both planes and themselves to the limit."

Want to experience the difficult flying of "The Spirit of St. Louis" without a pilots license? You can test your skills in Microsofts Flight Simulator 2004 "A Century of Flight":

"Anyone who really tries to fly this plane in Flight Sim will have a much better understanding of how difficult it was to keep it in the air and so I think its exciting that you and I can sit down and fly what Lindbergh flew and really get a feel for it."

This was your "Minute in Aviation."
