The countrys current record surge in voter registration is getting a boost from the Internet.  Yahoo! and Declare Yourself, a nonpartisan, non-profit youth voting campaign, founded by Norman Lear, joined forces earlier this year to launch a website, vote-dot-yahoo-dot-com.  The goal to empower young Americans to participate in the political process.  So far, almost one million people have registered to vote on the website, illustrating the power of the Internet to connect with young voters.   Christina Aguilera is one of many celebrities and a first-time voter lending her voice to the campaign:

Hey, this Christina Aguilera encouraging everyone to vote. Only you can silence yourself.  So get out there to the polls and vote November 2nd and break the silence.

Vote-dot-yahoo-dot-com and declare yourself also provide the latest election news, information on polling places, and tools on Yahoo! Messenger that young people can use to encourage their friends to vote.
