Seasoned travelers often take a companion with them - their laptop computer. According to Forrester Research, more than 56 percent of leisure travelers and more than 76 percent of business travelers bring laptops on trips. The Wi-Fi revolution has brought easy wireless access to places like airports and hotels. Seven wireless carriers have now banded together so Wi-Fi customers can roam internationally from Singapore to San Francisco to Stuttgart to Sydney. Heres Joe Sims of T-Mobile, the only U.S. carrier in this alliance:
Well, now our T-Mobile hotspot subscribers can now use their laptops or P-D-As to access the internet or check email wirelessly at nearly 12-thousand hotspots around the world. Weve joined other members of the wireless broadand alliance to give people the freedom to stay connected to what matters most when they travel abroad.
Wi-Fi customers can now roam in 11 nations in Europe, Asia and North America and can use them at no extra charge for the rest of the year. Terms and conditions apply. Details are available at wirelessboardbandalliance-dot-com.
