It doesnt matter whether its red or white wine you serve with your bird, this red, white and blue all American holiday kicks off a season of football frenzy and socializing that gives adult consumers an opportunity to set good examples, especially when driving. According to AAA more than 48 million will be taking to the roads this holiday. Diageo, the worlds leading premium drinks business, says guidelines for being safe are simple: Be responsible, if youve had too much to drink, dont drive. If you drink, designate someone who isnt drinking to drive. Its also important to understand the alcohol content of what you consume. Diageos Carolyn Panzer:
You need to know what youre drinking. So remember, if youre having a glass of wine, a beer or a mixed drink, they all have the same amount of alcohol. One isnt safer than the other.
Remember too, that food helps the body absorb alcohol, so never drink on an empty stomach. As for drinking lots of coffee to help you sober up, thats a myth. Only time can reduce the amount of alcohol in your system.
