The U.S. Department of Agriculture revised the national dietary guidelines for all Americans today. They recommend to watch your weight and exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Every five years the government updates its advice on what we should eat and drink-- and what not to---and once again it states that if you drink alcoholic beverages, do so in moderation. The world's leading spirits company, Diageo, says they're pleased with the guidelines, and wants the public to understand something about alcohol. Diageo's Carolyn Panzer:
"At Diageo we produce and market leading brands of beer, wine and spirits, so we know first hand there is no difference. Standard servings of beer, wine and spirits all contain the same amount of alcohol."
As the dietary guidelines point out, while the government is recognizing that "alcohol is alcohol', it also points out that if adults choose to drink they should drink moderately, defined as one drink a day for women and two for men. The bottom line: drink responsibly. If you drink - don't drive.
