HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Sep 17, 2002--Exceptional students from across Texas, including engineers, health care providers, technology developers and military officers, will receive scholarships from The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation during a luncheon ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002. Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation honors members of the state`s business community whose visions and careers have helped to place Texas at the forefront of the 21st century economy and seeks out the future entrepreneurs and leaders that will allow Texas to maintain this presence in the future. This year the foundation will honor 14 graduate students working towards their master`s degrees in business administration at Texas colleges and universities, awarding each a $5,000 scholarship. ''The students we will recognize on October 16th all share a common entrepreneurial passion and commitment to our community,'' said Del Williams, chairman of the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation. Students seeking a scholarship from The Texas Business Hall of Fame must be nominated by the dean of their MBA school, maintain a 3.5 grade point average or better, have completed at least one semester in an MBA program and demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit. To date, The Texas Business Hall of Fame has awarded more than $1.8 million in scholarships to students pursuing a business education at Texas` leading institutions of higher learning. Students who will be receiving $5,000 scholarships toward their MBA include:

Each of the recipients will receive their scholarship and be honored at a luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.
In addition to the scholarship winners, The Texas Business Hall of Fame will honor five Texas business leaders. The honorees include:
Robert J. (Bob) Allison, Jr., chairman of the board of The Woodlands-based Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, one of the world`s largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies; Louis A. Beecherl, Jr., of Dallas, former chairman and chief executive officer of Texas Oil & Gas Corporation.; William E. (Bill) Greehey, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Valero Energy Corporation, headquartered in San Antonio, one of the nation`s largest independent refining and marketing companies; Lee William (Bill) McNutt, Jr., of Corsicana, Texas, retired president and chairman of Collin Street Bakery, the largest manufacturer of fruitcake, shipping annually to over 196 countries; and Robert D. Rogers, chief executive officer of Texas Industries Inc., a leading supplier of building materials, primarily cement and structural steel based in Dallas. The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation is a non-profit organization of 100 directors who are business leaders from cities throughout the state. The organization`s mission is to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of Texas business leaders, to perpetuate and inspire the values of entrepreneurial spirit, personal integrity and community leadership in all generations of Texans. This mission is achieved by inducting honorees at the annual dinner, disseminating information about their accomplishments throughout the state and providing financial support for business education in Texas.
