''Unstable'' title-tune single goes to radio June 23rd in advance of second album, arriving in stores August 19th, produced by Howard Benson; Headlining U.S. tour June 1st-July 12th features Automatic Black
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--May 20, 2003--Arista recording group Adema, who emerged as one of the success stories of 2002 with their top 15 Modern Rock track ''The Way You Like It,'' has finished recording their second full-length album, UNSTABLE (titled for the lead single), which will arrive in stores on August 19th, it was announced today by Antonio ''L.A.'' Reid, President and CEO, Arista Records.
In advance of the ''Unstable'' single, scheduled for radio adds on June 23rd, Adema will hit the road for six weeks of headlining U.S. dates. Shows kick off in the band`s California home state in Chico (Brick Works) and San Jose (The Edge), on June 1st and 2nd respectively. The tour will work its way from the West to the South to the Northeast, before returning to wrap up at the Roxy in Los Angeles on July 12th. (Please see itinerary on following page.) Opening for Adema will be newly-signed Arista group Automatic Black, whose debut single ''Something For You (stupid girl)'' goes to radio July 21st, ahead of their album due in stores October 14th.
''Unstable'' (''I`m trapped and we can`t get along/ I thought that I was strong/ We are so unstable...'') is one of eleven new songs revealing the fevered imagination and chilling vocals of lead singer Marky Chavez. He cites U2 and ''the rawness of a band like Nirvana'' as heavy influences. ''There are very personal demons that were dealt with in making the record,'' he says, ''and as artists, we took big chances on songs like `So Fortunate` which is about my newborn son, and `Let Go.` My favorite song would be `Codependent` which deals with every human being`s vices.''
UNSTABLE was produced at Bay Seven in the Valley by Howard Benson (POD, Cold). The final sequence is: ''Codependent,'' Rip the Heart Out Of Me,'' ''Stand Up,'' ''Unstable,'' ''Promises,'' ''Blame Me,'' ''So Fortunate,'' ''Stressin`,'' ''Do You Hear Me,'' ''Let Go,'' ''Betray,'' and ''Needles.''
Adema - comprising Chavez, guitarist Mike Ransom, bassist Dave DeRoo, guitarist Tim Fluckey, and drummer Kris Kohls - burst on the scene in late-summer 2001 with their self-titled debut album and first single, the top 15 Modern Rock hit (and Paul Fedor video) ''Giving In.'' After spending the fall on the Music As A Weapon Tour (with Disturbed and Drowning Pool) and a 5-city tour of Europe, the stage was set for the historic Projekt Revolution tour in early 2002, with Linkin Park and Cypress Hill. Adema`s second top 15 Modern Rock hit ''The Way You Like It'' (whose Gregory Dark video featured cameo appearances by singer Chester Bennington and DJ Joe Hahn of Linkin Park) pushed the album to RIAA gold in March.
The gold arrived as Adema began a month-long stand on the SnoCore Rock Tour (with Alien Ant Farm, FenixTX, GlassJAw & Earshot). Adema also spent last summer on the mammoth two month OzzFest festival itinerary.
October 2002 brought Adema`s Insomniac`s Dream EP. In addition to its opening track ''Immortal'' (recorded for the Mortal Kombat(R): Deadly Alliance(TM) video game released a month later), the 7-song EP included two other previously unreleased tracks: ''Shattered'' and a mesmerizing cover of Alice In Chains` ''Nutshell.'' Alternative versions of four songs from the debut album included the Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails) remix of ''Freaking Out''; the Sam Seaver (Beastie Boys) remix of ''The Way You Like It''; a live version of ''Do What You Want To Do''; and the radio single version of ''Giving In.''
''It`s a great feeling to know that you`ve worked hard and established a fan base,'' says Chavez, ''and that`s the most rewarding part about all of this... Not too many people get to be artistic and do it for a living, and I thank God and our fans for giving us this opportunity.''
