AcquireX`s eProcurement System Enables Government Agencies to Access Products Offered by the California Prison Industry Authority into Their eProcurement System
LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Aug 26, 2003--California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) announced today the successful integration of its electronic procurement system with the Prison Industry Authority`s (PIA) on-line product catalog. Using the AcquireX product known as iBuy, the University can now select products, obtain approvals, and finalize ordering in an easy-to-use electronic purchasing process.
CSUF is the first California educational institution to implement iBuy to electronically purchase commodity goods such as furniture, as well as ''specialty goods'' offered by PIA.
''The iBuy solution has streamlined and automated the campus procurement processes and freed management time to focus on managing existing vendors and contracts, as well as qualifying new vendors,'' says Sherri Newcomb, CFO at CSUF. ''Adding PIA as a vendor made a lot of sense for us based on our significant volume with this state organization and our legislated requirement as a State agency to purchase PIA`s products.''
CSUF authorized buyers can shop on their designated supplier`s websites yet still take advantage of their business rules and processes within iBuy. By simply connecting through iBuy, buyers can select and purchase products from PIA`s on-line catalog and bring those items back into AcquireX`s web-based procurement portal for requisition approval and automatic order dispatch. Galen Baker, PIA`s Manager of the Marketing and Business Analysis unit, stated, ''We are pleased to coordinate with Cal State Fullerton by integrating our on-line catalog with their electronic procurement system. This will assist the University by supporting a paperless procurement process and improving its efficiency. This new process enables University staff to use PIA`s online catalog while electronically securing the necessary internal review and approvals prior to finalizing an order. We hope to use this type of technology to aid our other governmental customers in streamlining their purchasing efforts.''
Mark Andersen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for AcquireX, states, ''Offering the PIA catalog to the iBuy community throughout the State of California will increase sales and product awareness of the PIA product line.''
