PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Oct 13, 2004--WorldWIT (www.worldwit.org), the world`s largest online networking community for professional women, announced today its launch of PhillyCampusWIT, a first-of-its-kind, free, online discussion community for Delaware Valley college students.

Since 1999, WorldWIT has grown to over 70 chapters in 24 countries around the globe. Continuing in its innovative spirit, WorldWIT launches PhillyCampusWIT - its first student-focused chapter and the result of requests from Philadelphia-area undergrads who attended the international Camp WorldWIT: Upward Bound in May 2004.

''We are delighted to have a groundswell of support in place from area young women already,'' says Liz Ryan, WorldWIT`s CEO and founder. ''And because WorldWIT has become a print, radio and TV authority on women in business, we plan to provide the next generation of professionals with the same type of valuable information,'' she continued.

The mission of PhillyCampusWIT is to connect students, both graduate and undergrad, with one another across the Delaware Valley. Students may email one another with questions about off-campus housing, upcoming events, trends around town and commuting, to name a few. They may also post such things as books for sale, research questions, or tutoring and internship opportunities. The students completely dictate the subject matter. However, like every WorldWIT chapter around the world, PhillyCampusWIT is moderated by highly-trained staff to maintain the tone and character of the online discussion.

''A free networking group that connects like-minded students across the Delaware Valley could be an excellent resource and is long overdue. I`m really glad to see WorldWIT is implementing such an easy-to-use and useful resource for students,'' says Swati Bagaria, University of Pennsylvania junior and PhillyCampusWIT student leader. ''I`m very excited to be a part of the premiere launch of PhillyCampusWIT and hope to create a model for other college-regions across the country,'' Bagaria concludes.

PhillyCampusWIT is separate from, but complements the veteran PhillyWIT chapter that includes more than 600 local members. The students may have access to advanced networking, career opportunities and mentoring by also joining PhillyWIT (for free) and connecting with the large pool of professionals.

Some of WorldWIT`s largest chapters include ChicWIT (Chicago), MassWIT (Massachusetts), SilcWIT (Silicon Valley, CA), RockyWIT (Colorado), NycWIT, CapitolWIT (Washington, D.C. and environs), AustinWIT, CoastWIT (Los Angeles, CA) ClevelandWIT, PittWIT (Pittsburgh, PA), PeachWIT (Atlanta, GA) and PhillyWIT. Overseas, there are thriving chapters in Great Britain, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Australia, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nigeria, South Africa and the Middle East.

To join, students simply send an email to [email protected]. WorldWIT only asks for the student`s email address. As members, students will receive a daily digest of local `conversation.` To post a message, members send email to [email protected]. For more information on WorldWIT, contact Kristi Hughes at 215-816-2954 (or email [email protected]).
