OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Nov 11, 2004--In support of the fight against breast cancer, DeVry University raised more than $14,000 thanks to participation among its campuses across the country, as well as its corporate headquarters, in Lee National Denim Day(R), the world`s largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer on October 8.

DeVry students, staff and faculty wore denim to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as part of the fundraiser. Faculty and staff were asked to donate $5 in exchange for the opportunity to wear jeans to work, and students were encouraged to contribute $5 towards the cause.

Many DeVry University campus locations engaged in a friendly competition to see who could raise the most money and achieve the highest participation rate. DeVry`s Southern California campuses raised the most money, collecting nearly $3,000. DeVry`s Miramar campus in Florida won for the highest participation rate, with 86 percent of students, staff and faculty participating in the fundraising event.

''This system wide fundraising event was a fun way to benefit a truly great cause,'' said Sheila Scott, dean of student affairs at DeVry`s Denver campus and DeVry University`s fundraiser coordinator. ''It`s wonderful to see the students and faculty at so many of our campuses coming together to give something back to help women all over the country who are fighting breast cancer.''

More than 1.5 million individuals participated in the Lee National Denim Day(R) event, raising a total of $7.6 million, all of which went directly to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.
