SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Nov 15, 2004--SBC companies are reaching out to blog readers with an inventive blog-based network of content and services, perfect for young adults and college students. The service is designed to provide a platform to promote the communication medium called blogging and connect the creators of the content to a wider audience. Project D.U. presents more than 20 original content web sites with unique perspective on topics ranging from entertainment and music to fashion and sports.

The latest in a series of new marketing initiatives, including The Incredibles sponsorship and SBC College Football Tour, SBC companies are capitalizing on this non-traditional communications medium - blogging - to promote key SBC services that fit the young adult lifestyle such as SBC Yahoo! DSL, Cingular Wireless and SBC|Dish Network satellite TV.

''SBC companies are committed to providing products and services that enable communications and entertainment and Project D.U. is a logical extension of that mission. We are able to promote hip, cutting edge content through a medium that these readers are comfortable with and prefer,'' explained Michael Grasso, executive director of offer management. ''With Project D.U., we believe that we have struck a great balance by highlighting these great blogs and providing great promotions that complement the lifestyle. Best of all, Project D.U. elevates blogging and these small labors of love to a whole new audience.''

The starting point for Project D.U. is the web site (www.projectdu.com) that launched earlier this month. Content and offers are organized by topics, with reviews of all the network blogs. As an extension of the web site experience, Project D.U. also offers a customizable blog reader that can be downloaded and accessed right from the users desktop. The reader, which employs Real Simple Syndication (RSS) technology, makes it easier for users to take in the dozens of new items posted daily and organize the blogs by topics (called channels), and add personal favorites for faster blog browsing. Users can also design their own look and feel for the service, with more options coming soon.

The blogs featured on Project D.U. are all the work of passionate non-professionals specifically recruited for the project. Among the sites in the Project D.U. network are music, sports and entertainment sites with cult followings sites such as SceneStars (www.scenesstars.com), SportsFrog (www.sportsfrog.com) and Jossip (www.jossip.com). In addition, the agency tapped several small sites with unique content, such as Honey No! which documents fashion crimes on campus, while serving up helpful suggestions. Over the coming year Project D.U. expects to recruit another 30 blogs based on user recommendations and the ongoing research of the agency`s content team. Member blogs are identified with a small Project D.U. badge.
