Some 17 million people live in the U.S. with diabetes, a serious, yet manageable disease.[1]  A recent study shows that nearly half of them don't actively monitor their condition,[2] a vital step in reducing the risk of long-term complications.[3]   To celebrate those people with diabetes who not only manage their condition, but go on to live extraordinary lives, the Diagnostics Division of Bayer Healthcare LLC has created the Ascensia Dream Fund.    Joe Malta from Bayer explains:

The Ascensia Dream Fund will reward the efforts of someone with diabetes who has a dream and knows that active self-monitoring can help achieve that dream. Bayer Diagnostics will award up to three-hundred-thousand dollars to the first Ascensia Dream Fund winner this fall.  We hope that the winner will provide inspiration to motivate other people with diabetes to take control of their disease.

Completed entries must be received by September 12th.  The Ascensia Dream Fund is open to legal residents of the United States 18 years of age or older who have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, and use an Ascensia or Glucometer Diabetes Meter.  For complete eligibility requirements, official rules or entry forms, call toll-free 1-800-332-3210, or log on to w-w-w-dot-ascensia-dream-fund-dot-com.  Thats a-s-c-e-n-s-i-a dream fund-dot-com.
