Talking to your teenager often seems impossible, but a new survey reveals that money is a subject that teens are listening to and even wanting more advice on from their parents. The results of a new survey from Consumer Action and Capitol One on financial education found that while nearly 73 percent of parents said that theyve already talked to their teenagers about money management, 53 percent of teenagers said they want to learn more. Linda Sherry from Consumer Action:
The Money-Wise survey showed that contrary to what their parents report, teenagers are hungry for information about money-management. With that in mind, we partnered with Capitol One to develop a free workbook called Talking to Teens About Money, its a hands-on tool that includes worksheets and samples designed to teach the basics of money-management, including savings accounts, checking accounts, using credit cards and making a budget.
