The director of the United States Nint, Henrietta Holsman Fore and Governor Tim Pawlenty officially launched Minnesota's entry into the U.S. Mint's popular 50 State Quarters Program:

"The image on the quarter beckons us to a Minnesota spring morning - we see a loon gliding through a tree-lined lake as two friends fish nearby.  The Minnesota quarter design is the first to depict fishing in the 50 state quarters program."

More than 5,000 schoolchildren attended the event and each received a new quarter from Governor Pawlenty and Director Fore. For more information log on to, usmint-dot-gov.
