The New York Women in Communications Foundation Offers College Scholarships Totaling $60,000

Professional Women`s Organization is Leading Provider of Communications Scholarship Funds in Tri-State Area; Application Deadline is 31 January 2004

NEW YORK--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Dec 10, 2003--New York Women in Communications� Foundation, the charitable arm of New York Women in Communications, (NYWICI) announces that college scholarships totaling $60,000 will be awarded to qualified applicants on the basis of academic excellence, need and involvement in the field of communications. Each designated recipient will receive a stipend of up to $10,000. Residents of the Tri-state area and Pennsylvania who are focusing on communication studies are eligible to submit applications for scholarships for the 2004-2005 academic year. (Students are eligible even if attending a school outside New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or Pennsylvania, as long as their home address is in one of these regions)

''We are thrilled to develop the next generation of talented communications professionals through our scholarships,'' said Gail Blanke, president of the NYWICI Foundation. ''The NYWICI Foundation board is delighted to help students who are looking to realize their dreams of a communications career,'' she continued.


ELIGIBILITY

* High School seniors attending a New York state high school (who expect to graduate in 2004).

* Undergraduate students from (permanent residents of NY, NJ, CT, or PA).

* Graduate students from (permanent residents of NY, NJ, CT, or PA).

* Current NYWICI members who are returning to school

* Undergraduate and graduate students must have GPA of 3.5 or higher in their major and a GPA of 3.0 or higher overall.

* Students must be majoring in a communications-related field, such as advertising, broadcasting, communications, journalism, marketing, new media or public relations.

* All applicants will be notified of their status by the first week of March, 2004.

The NYWICI Foundation, a 501C3 non-profit organization, exists to help a Younger Sisterhood successfully enter the world of communications with our financial support, professional guidance and ongoing friendship. An arm of New York Women in Communications, the Foundation awards scholarships and provides educational programs for women, whether just beginning or embarking on a transition in their careers. It is the largest foundation for communications scholarships for women in the tri-state area.
