NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Apr 24, 2003--Russell Simmons and Dr. Benjamin Chavis of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and Earl Jones, General Manager of Detroit`s premier hip-hop station 98FM WJLB announced today that Eminem and Nas will receive awards for their outstanding contributions to youth empowerment and community development at the Detroit Hip-Hop Summit at Cobo Arena in Detroit on April 26, 2003.

Eminem will receive the ''Outstanding Achievement Award'' for his significant charitable work and contributions to support youth empowerment in the city of Detroit. Nas will receive the ''Heroes Award'' for his hit music and video entitled ''I Can,'' a powerful and inspiring song in which he empowers young people to believe they can be whatever they aspire to be.

''Eminem and Nas continue to make outstanding contributions towards the empowerment of youth, which results in encouraging young people to fulfill their highest aspirations,'' commented Russell Simmons.

''There is a creative diversity within hip-hop culture, and Nas and Eminem represent the best of that creativity,'' added Dr. Chavis.
